Supporting students to flourish

At Loreto College, we prioritise the holistic growth of every student, nurturing their sense of belonging and connection and helping them to build resilience and confidence by focusing on their individual strengths.

We are committed to creating a safe, inclusive environment for learning where each student feels supported as they navigate their Loreto College journey.

Student Wellbeing Network

Our interconnected care and wellbeing network ensures that every student receives the tailored support they need to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

Each student belongs to a Mentor Group, organised around year levels, which is led by a Mentor Teacher and supported by Year Level Coordinators. Mentor Teachers provide both wellbeing and academic support, and act as advocates for their students, monitoring their progress and facilitating additional support when needed. In Years 7 to 9, students are assigned a different Mentor Teacher each year. In Years 10 to 12, students will stay with the same Mentor Teacher for continuity and consistency throughout their final years at school.

An integral part of the Student Wellbeing Network, our dedicated Learning Diversity Team works closely with individual students with diverse learning needs. They provide targeted support, ranging from one-on-one mentoring to small group instruction and in-class assistance.  They tailor programs to each student’s needs to ensure they have access to content appropriate to their ability.

For those students experiencing mild to moderate mental health or wellbeing concerns, our School Counselling Service offers short-term targeted support in a safe and confidential setting.

Important note: For students who are experiencing a mental health crisis or are at significant risk, School policies and School Safe guidelines require that students and their families seek support from specialist community services.

House System

The Loreto House system enables students to strengthen their connection with each other and the College community. It encourages student confidence, self-worth and a readiness to take on new challenges both inside and outside the classroom. Each student belongs to one of four Houses, each named after an inspirational Loreto Sister – Barry, Mornane, Mulhall and Ward.
