Christine Shaw
Principal

Chris joined Loreto College Ballarat as Deputy Principal in 2021, before being appointed Principal in 2026. Her professional focus has been on organisational culture development through leading curriculum, wellbeing, and pastoral care, with a passion for holistic and purposeful strategic planning enhancing student experience.
Chris has presented on a range of education topics both nationally and internationally, inspiring educators to develop innovative, authentic programs that develop a passion for learning. Developing curious, creative, compassionate, and ethical women of action is at the heart of all we do here at Loreto and providing quality education that celebrates inclusivity, respect and trust is what Chris loves about the College.
Chris has worked as a teacher and senior leader in numerous roles at leading day and boarding, co-educational and girls’ faith-based schools in Melbourne, Brisbane, and Ballarat, where lived values are at the heart of a rounded education.
Chris holds a Bachelor of Education, Graduate Diploma of Education Administration, Master of Education, Graduate Certificate of Education Research, and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD).
Sue Hinchliffe
Deputy Principal
BEd, DipEd (Teaching)
Sue joined Loreto College in July 2025, initially teaching English and coaching the Leadership Team before stepping into her current role as Interim Deputy Principal. Sue is responsible for driving a school-wide focus on continuous improvement, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, student-centred learning and opportunities in the Mary Ward tradition. She works closely with the leadership team and key stakeholders to foster a culture of genuine collaboration.
Prior to her time at Loreto, Sue served as Principal at two international schools and held various senior roles across Australia, including Deputy Principal at a Catholic College in Western Australia, Head of Faculty (English and Humanities), VCE Coordinator and a Director of Staff.
Sue holds a Bachelor of Education and a Diploma of Teaching.
Adele Ryan
Assistant Principal: Learning & Innovation
BSci, MEd (Leadership), GradDipEd, GradDipRE
Adele joined Loreto College in January 2024 in the role of Assistant Principal Learning and Innovation. Adele is responsible for the leadership of learning and teaching at Loreto College with a focus on developing an innovative and contemporary education for students. In her role, Adele collaborates with teachers across all areas of the College, as well as teaching and supporting many students. The three strategic priorities of Adele’s role include: Learning Culture, Learning Growth and Student Agency.
Prior to commencing in her role at Loreto College, Adele taught in a number of Catholic and Independent Secondary Schools in the region. During her career, Adele has been fortunate to hold several senior leadership positions in teaching, learning and innovation, as well as research roles, and working in Student Leadership and Community Service.
Adele’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Science, Master of Education (Leadership), Graduate Diploma of Education, and Graduate Diploma of Religious Education.
Felicity Knobel
Assistant Principal: Faith & Identity

Felicity worked at Loreto College periodically from 2010 until 2015. Since 2015, she has remained ongoing at the College and is currently the Assistant Principal Faith and Identity.
In her role, Felicity is responsible for the faith life of the College alongside student leadership and engagement, social justice, liturgical celebrations, and the continuous development of our Loreto Catholic identity that is firmly embedded in all aspects of our College. Felicity has been a member of the Loreto community for many years and has strong connections with Mary Ward International and other Loreto communities throughout Australia.
Prior to joining Loreto College, Felicity worked overseas in the UK, China and Vietnam before making her home in Ballarat.
Felicity holds a Bachelor of Arts with a focus on Theology, Literature and History, Graduate Diploma in Secondary Education, Graduate Certificate in Religious Education, and Master of Educational Leadership.
Kerryn Boyko
Assistant Principal: Wellbeing
BArts, GradDipEd, Cert (Catholic Leadership)
Kerryn commenced with Loreto College in 2006 and has held several roles during that time, including Year Level Coordinator, VCAL Coordinator, English Faculty Leader, Senior Pathways Coordinator and the Director of 10 – 12. Kerryn is currently Assistant Principal: Wellbeing where she is responsible for leading a whole school approach to ensuring that students feel safe, valued, connected and supported. In her role Kerryn works with staff to ensure students are equipped with the skills and attributes to enable them to flourish now and in the future.
Prior to joining Loreto College Kerryn worked in a variety of secondary schools in Auckland and London, the majority of which were Catholic.
Kerryn holds a Bachelor of Arts (Humanities), Graduate Diploma (Secondary), and Certificate of Leadership (Catholic Schools).
Brenton Riordan
Business Manager & Company Secretary
BCom (Acc & Fin)
Brenton Riordan has been the Business Manager and Company Secretary at Loreto College since 2021. In this role, he leads the College’s long-term strategic and operational planning. His responsibilities include College master planning, overseeing major facility and technology upgrades, financial planning and modelling, and delivering continuous improvement projects across the College. As Company Secretary, Brenton also supports the governance functions of the College Board, ensuring compliance, risk management, and sound corporate governance practices.
Before joining Loreto College, Brenton worked as Financial Controller and Corporate Services Manager at a local manufacturing company, where he was responsible for financial oversight, corporate governance, and operational support services. Prior to that, he spent a decade at KPMG Melbourne in various roles across audit, risk consulting, and sustainability services. This breadth of experience has equipped him with strong capabilities in financial management, governance, and strategic planning.
Brenton holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting & Finance) and is a Chartered Accountant, having been admitted to the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia in 2011.
Christina Sofis
Director of Staff and Operations
BEd, MAdmin (HR)
Christina joined Loreto College in 1995 as a Mathematics teacher, a subject she continues to teach today. Christina was first based at Dawson Street and would later commute between the Dawson Street and Sturt Street campuses before the College amalgamated to the current campus in 2007.
Christina is currently the Director of Staff and Operations and is responsible for overseeing staffing matters such as teaching loads, short-term staff coverage, and recruitment support. Christina also coordinates the logistics of school activities, ensuring staff, students, rooms, and scheduling are aligned and communicated clearly.
Before joining Loreto College, Christina taught in South Australia at Waikerie High School, Grant High School, and East Murray Area School. She also spent three years teaching at St Matthias Primary School in Bethnal Green, London (UK).
Christina holds a Bachelor of Education and Master of Administration (Human Resources).
Dean Pepplinkhouse
Director of Operations
MEd (Leadership), BEd (Hons) (Physical Education and Science)
Dean joined Loreto College in 2023 as Director of Students – 7 to 9 and currently serves as Director of Operations. In his role, Dean is responsible for overseeing the operational functions of the College, ensuring that systems, structures and processes effectively support student wellbeing, learning, and the day to day life of the school. He works closely with staff across all areas of the College to promote a cohesive, efficient and student centred environment.
As Director of Operations, Dean leads key areas including student services, organisational planning, and the coordination of College-wide initiatives and events. His work focuses on fostering a positive and supportive culture while ensuring the smooth and effective functioning of the College’s operations.
Prior to joining Loreto College, Dean held a range of senior leadership positions in secondary schools across Victoria, including Assistant Principal of Middle School, Director of Sport and Daily Organisation. Through these roles, he developed extensive experience in student wellbeing, curriculum leadership, staff management and co-curricular programs, with a strong commitment to holistic education and student growth.
Dean holds a Master of Education (Leadership) and a Bachelor of Education with Honours (Physical Education and Science).
Naomi Hrymakowski
HR Manager
DipHRLM, DipBusAdm, MAHRI
Naomi joined Loreto in mid-2025 as the Human Resources (HR) Manager, bringing with her a long-standing connection to the College, pre-dating her years as a Loreto girl. Naomi leads the College’s HR function and partners closely with the Principal and Leadership Team to deliver strategic and operational people management across the employee lifecycle, ensuring the delivery of people-focused initiatives aligned to the College’s strategic plan.
Naomi is a values-driven HR leader with over 22 years’ experience as a HR practitioner across the community services and not-for-profit sectors, most recently working with one of the largest community service providers in Victoria and Tasmania.
Naomi holds qualifications in Human Resources, Leadership & Management, and Business Administration, and is a Professional Member (MAHRI) of the Australian HR Institute.
