On Friday, Loreto College Ballarat was honoured to welcome Sister Veronica Fuhrmann CJ, General Superior of the Congregation of Jesus, during her visit to Australia. Sister Veronica travelled to Ballarat with Sandra Perritt CJ and was warmly hosted by Principal Christine Shaw and IBVM Archivist Robin Scott.
During her visit, Sister Veronica spent time learning about the rich history and heritage of Loreto College Ballarat. She had the opportunity to explore the College’s Archive Centre and Chapel, gaining insight into the stories, traditions and legacy that have shaped the Loreto community over many generations.
A highlight of the visit was the opportunity for Sister Veronica to meet with our student leaders. The students shared their experiences of life at Loreto and spoke about the ways in which the values of Mary Ward continue to guide learning, leadership and community within the College. It was a valuable opportunity for students to connect with the global Loreto story and learn more about the international network of Loreto schools and the continuing influence of Mary Ward International.
The visit was a meaningful reminder of Loreto College Ballarat’s place within a worldwide community inspired by the vision and courage of Mary Ward. We are grateful to Sister Veronica for taking the time to visit our College and to share in the life of our community.
We wish Sister Veronica all the very best for the remainder of her time in Australia and hope to welcome her back to Loreto College Ballarat in the future.
