Director of Finance

We are seeking an experienced financial leader to join our community as Director of Finance. As a key strategic leader, this role will help guide the College into the future, contributing meaningfully to the delivery of an ambitious strategic vision that supports growth, innovation, and exceptional educational outcomes for our students.

In this newly created role, you will report to the Business Manager and be responsible for providing strategic, operational, and cultural leadership across all aspects of the College’s financial management. The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Providing strategic financial analysis, modelling, budgeting, and cash-flow management to inform planning, decision-making, and the effective delivery of capital and operational projects.
  • Delivering high-quality reporting and analysis to support the Principal, Business Manager, and College Board.
  • Providing both oversight and hands-on contribution across all financial operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and general accounting functions.
  • Leading the Finance Team to deliver high-quality, efficient, and compliant financial services while building capability, accountability, and a positive, growth-oriented team culture.
  • Driving process improvement, digital innovation, and automation of financial systems and processes.
  • Building strong relationships across the College community and ensuring exceptional service delivery.
  • Ensuring compliance with all regulatory, audit, and governance requirements.

This is a hands-on leadership role for a collaborative and future-focused professional who combines strong financial acumen with a people-first mindset.

To be successful in this role will be an experienced financial leader who brings a balance of operational expertise, strategic insight, and people-first leadership. You thrive in environments undergoing growth and transformation and are motivated by improving systems, building strong teams, and supporting educational outcomes.

You will have:

  • CPA/CA qualifications and relevant tertiary degree in Accounting, Commerce, or related field.
  • Proven experience in financial leadership within a diversified medium to large size organisation.
  • Extensive experience in financial management, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting within a complex organisation.
  • Demonstrated success in leading teams and driving improvement through systems and innovation.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Alignment with the Loreto values and commitment to the ethos of a Catholic school community.
